I Made a Painting
03:04
|
|||
change: a universal constant
gazing at
frayed carpet
paint stains
countless splotches
how you feeling
about the general concept of eternal recurrence?
turning back in
when all of a sudden
it’s december already
hanging on the syllables
grunts and past participles
interpreting the guttural
noises you made
swift shift in the atmosphere
scribble thoughts as they appear
crafting up a souvenir
that you can take
keep magic marker in the lines
their inky tendrils intertwine
the excrement of art supplies
smear on the page
suffocate! humidity!
the fan is blowing lazily
not discerning anything
in the painting i made
seedbed
slanted flooring
i hope you like it
my wrists are hurting
come and going
shall we continue?
you get to look at
painting i made
no conversation
sit there and take it
pretend i’ve got
something important
to say about it
so self indulgent
tug out the meaning
of a painting i made

On Purpose
02:59
|
|||
cross down
the white noise inside
my mouth and my eyelids
i hope that you like it this way
the feeling that trickles
to the base of my spine
wouldn’t you like it?
it’s by design
when you were gazing over
crashing down on the fresh waves of hatred
we’re drowning in messaging
slice me
a cloud of confusion
the storm of abjection
i rest my head in your hands
dig your thumbs in my eyelids
swear me to silence
my feeble body lies here
trembling, blistering, burnt by the sun
i’ve crossed
oceans of time
just to fall in your arms
your tender embraces
so whisper sweet nothings to me
sliding a blade in my chest
and with your intentions set
wrap your lovely fingers
around my throat
crashing down on the fresh waves of hatred
we’re drowning in messaging
slice me
a cloud of confusion
the storm of abjection
i rest my head in your hands
dig your thumbs in my eyelids
swear me to silence
my feeble body lies here
blistering, cowering, burnt by the sun

You Were Just Here
03:06
|
|||
silently searching for a space to
glide between the air we
breathe in slowly
run and hide in the
trappings of a pleasant day well wasted
watch the chasm between
how things appear and now
are you watching?
blink and you’ll miss the point entirely
grazing across
the edge of a knife
blood spills ten times a day
some say that lightning strikes twice
why beg for answers
if more questions arise?
you try to breathe in
a futile exercise
spitting up a mixture
of sadness and spite
rearranging
the words you tried to write
what is one due?
a senseless sacrifice?
who could tell you
what you left behind?
i could’ve sworn
you were just here
drifting to you
drifting to you
closer each day

Gather Moss
04:00
|
|||
circle back around
only the weather has changed
the story continues
but everything remains
and you feel it in your bones
the same foreboding lump in your throat
try to explain it away
the sensation returns
the uncertain meaning
as the lines are blurred
between the long, sultry summer days
and your screen’s blinding blue haze
choke down the words you tried to chew
retreat, regress, and binge cartoons
pull out the roots, wither away
invent excuses for delays
and now i gather moss
hidden in this urban sprawl
i guess i asked for this
there’s nothing that i wanted more
i guess i asked for this
i asked for this, i asked for this
not making up for wasted time
i’m watching hours pass me by
could not explain it if i tried
another day wasted inside
they say justice is served
on a platter with a knife
circle back to the beginning
seems like everything’s changed
you can pack your belongings
but the foundations remain
and what’s relocating?
what circles around?
you can push a boulder
but what goes up comes down
and it…
comes tumbling down

Tite Wire
02:55
|
|||
i’ve seen it!
the greatest city in the world
i read it on park benches and garbage cans
it says so
they prove it!
i’ve seen it!
i don’t need to get outside
there’s absolutely nothing that i need to do
rejection!
meet a match and take it
walk on thin ice
a tight wire
i’ve seen it!
the greatest city in the world
tight wire
tight wire
it quells the senses
and the passions
i have no need
for human interaction
say what you want
about the law of attraction
i am a lightning rod
a closed casket

It's Hard to Explain
03:23
|
|||
water runs backwards
down the drain in the antarctic circle
flush out those glassy eyes
with each subsequent reversal
try to erase the notes
on a last new leaf of paper
the headaches always last for days
so next time try to play it safer
the taste of medicine
one’s both a brick and a burning building
shelled out and zeroed in
it always kills me
fucking kill me
• • •
it’s building
to an unconscionable level
i’m standing
on shaky knees
we look into each other’s eyes
we’re falling to the correct beat
it gets hard to explain
over!
each day my life is over
through and through
i find it, crossed wires
it tells me the only way i’m touching you
i break through the conduit
which senses the consciousness side
when i’m running
overflowed
i feel assured that all around
they’re watching you
i know my life is over
we reach the perihelion and away
it gets hard to explain
over and under!
i follow the words
down the light circle cuts
it’s hard to explain
over!
their life is falling to pieces
i can’t explain it away
so it remains
crossed wires
i tear through the conduit
it’s hard to say
it gets hard to explain

Double Meanings
02:37
|
|||
it’s just
the passage of time
run backwards
spare no expense, stop on a dime
cut losses
roughly hewn in two
double meanings
trip over words we laughed about in school
try to
scribble down your thoughts
turn backwards
on the point you tried to get across
try to see the forest for the trees
the chain is only its weakest link
the grass looks green
where the water’s clean enough to drink
why choose to sleep
when waking up is worse than pleasant dreams?
take care in what you say
i think we can skip the pleasantries
